What a wonderful afternoon we have had!
With more than 100 parents and children attending this year’s Father’s Day celebration - it was a day to remember.
Well organized & executed programme resulted with raffle collecting more than $300. These funds will be addressed by CCS President Mr Ivan Pervan towards Red Cross in Christchurch due to the recent series of earthquakes in Canterbury.
This year’s programme had several creative workshops focusing on fun through education and learning about visual identity & brief history of medieval Croatia (knights & castles).
Creative workshops with their team leaders helped children to make the ‘Best Dad’s Awards’ , to colour up a Croatian flag, make a Croatian castle from cardboards and coloured paper and, every child’s favourite - face painting.
Proud mums and nana’s awarded children and all parents with more than 20(!) different home-made biscuits & cakes. After this refreshment boys and girls were ready for the games such as: tug o-war, 3-legged race, Formula 1, sack race and indoor bouncing castle kindly provided by Fabian. Naturally, most successful and challenging game was ‘tug-o-war’ where even parents joined helping their little teams!
After the raffle winners were announced by Ivan Pervan, children and fathers went to the mini-soccer field eagerly waiting for a start whistle.
We played only one game, but it was packed with passion & emotions! At one moment, one could clearly see fathers enjoying the game even more than the kids!
Luckily no one got hurt, little Antony was the player of the match and soccer passion was calmed down with the home-made biscuits and soft drinks again.
For all families and visitors staying indoors, during the game, we rolled a DVD: ‘Croatian Adriatic’ with the Croatian festival songs in the background – so they could enjoy beautiful Adriatic motives while waiting the 5:00 pm dinner.
Well known chefs, Rudez brothers, prepared their famous lamb on spit and once again exceeded expectations by mastering delicious dinner for all families attending! Bravo to Ivan & Stanko!
On behalf of the organising team; Anna-Marie, Nada, Marina, Sanja, Fabian and Ljubica
I’d like to wish you all the best until the next Father’s Day!
Yours truly,
